  • Overview

    Under general guidance, provides high-level human resources functions with an emphasis on employee relations. Implements, administers, and effectively manages corporate human resource policies and procedures in compliance with state and federal laws. Provides exceptional HR service delivery along with a consultative, collaborative, solution-focused approach.


    • Provides high-level and generalist human resources functions for assigned geographic regions including employee relations issues, employment law, coordinating performance appraisal process, training, and development.
    • Responds to employee relations issues or requests. Provides counsel through the interpretation of policies and programs, and coaching in areas of discipline and employee relations areas; escalates issues and recommends solutions to senior management as necessary.
    • Leads the internal investigation, documentation and resolution of allegations of harassment, discrimination, and other employee relations issues, in consultation with legal counsel and compliance function. Escalates as appropriate and recommends solutions to senior management.
    • Conducts bi monthly/weekly new hire orientation training, including a review of company policies and procedures. Reviews and ensures the completion of all necessary onboarding paperwork.
    • Works with hiring manager to interview and recommend the most qualified candidates for employment. Conducts reference checks on applicants and initiates the background investigation via a third party vendor. Facilitates FBI and DOJ screening as necessary.
    • Facilitates, completes, and submits Change of Status forms for associates as needed.
    • Liaisons with the Leave of Absence, Worker’s Compensation and Benefits teams as needed to ensure the completion of required documentation related to claims.
    • Manages one or more Human Resource professionals; sets clear performance expectations; ensures resources and tools are in place to meet goals and objectives; evaluates staff performance and provides feedback; conducts annual performance reviews.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.


    • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and 8+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources, including at least 5 years in employee relations. Breadth of experience must also include employment law, compliance, training and development.
    • Current PHR Certification is required.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Skype) and other HR software applications (e.g. UltiPro).
    • Proficient in Human Resources best practices, methods and processes with an emphasis in employee relations, employment law, and investigations.
    • Knowledge of State and/or Federal employment regulations and requirements related to human resources, including EEO, ADA, Workers Compensation, Wage & Hour and others.
    • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communication skills with associates at all levels of the organization, as well as the general public.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates and management at all levels within the organization.
    • Ability to provide consultative and collaborative approach to problem solving and conflict resolution.
    • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills.
    • Ability to work independently and to manage staff/management expectations for completion of deliverables according to specific timelines.
    • Ability to manage difficult situations with tact and diplomacy; and exercise discretion and confidentiality in all situations.
    • Ability to properly interpret and implement policies, procedures, and regulations; consistently demonstrate good judgement and decision making skills.
    • Ability to travel locally with incumbent’s own, reliable transportation; maintain driving record in compliance with Transportation Safety Standards; maintain auto insurance and vehicle registration.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record/fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation per Easterseals Southern California and/or program requirements.
