  • Overview

    Develops, coordinates and maintains the planning, logistics, and day-to-day operational aspects of transportation for persons supported by Easterseals Southern California (ESSC). Responsibilities include training, management, route planning, trip scheduling, and documentation. Continually challenging the status quo, ensures the most inclusive and safest transportation options are consistently employed for persons supported by ESSC.

    Responsibilities

    • Leads development and implementation of a transportation plan for services throughout Southern California and related budget with the ultimate goal of safely and efficiently utilizing community transportation options for persons supported by ESSC.
    • Leads and implements change initiatives as outlined in the transportation plan inclusive of logistics, routing, coordination with leadership, and communication with outside entities who impact transportation initiatives.
    • Manages route planning and scheduling while utilizing an individualized, person-centered approach. Coordinates with leaders to develop schedules utilizing transportation resources as defined within the transportation plan. 
    • Collects and analyzes transportation data and report performance and cost. Monitors, evaluates, and modifies transportation strategies to improve safety, inclusive practices, and efficiencies.
    • Establishes and ensures compliance with safety standards for transportation. Maintains compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations including Titles 17 and 22.  Responsible for required reporting under these regulations.
    • Acts as liaison with regional center and other funders related to transportation requirements.
    • Recommends for hire, trains, and supervises transportation staff.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

     

    Qualifications

    • Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 5-7 years’ experience transportation, compliance, logistics or similar role –or- the equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the job successfully.
    • Strong communicator with proven ability to build cross-functional relationships and lead via influence.
    • Creative and analytical thinker with a desire to develop and improve business processes, design systems and tools, and prioritize work within tight, concurrent deadlines; adept at change management.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, prioritize work, maintain deadlines and ensure quality of work.
    • Ability to properly interpret and implement policies, procedures, and regulations; consistently demonstrate good judgement and decision making skills; and exercise discretion and confidentiality in all situations.
    • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communication skills with associates at all levels, both internal and external to the organization.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
    • Ability to travel locally; maintain driving record in compliance with Transportation Safety Standards; maintain auto insurance and vehicle registration.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record/fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation, per Easterseals of Southern California and/or program requirements.
