  • Overview

    Under the supervision of the Area Director, coordinates the total growth and development of the individual participant and associates towards the attainment of their highest potential. Assists with the implementation of overall program activities and supervision.


    • Provide supervision, training and direction for Early Head Start I Home Visitor associates to ensure compliance with program guidelines and to guarantee the safety and security of program participants and associates.
    • Assure primary caregiving and continuity of care. Model appropriate teaching techniques. Must maintain positive affect. Assist substitute associates to ensure to support a primary system.
    • Observe instructional associates while providing instruction; evaluate performance; review weekly lesson plans for adherence to curriculum guidelines.
    • Coordinate the timely completion, collection and review of required paperwork.
    • Other assignments that may need the associate’s expertise, knowledge or ability.


    • Bachelor of Arts Degree and possession of valid Regular Children’s Center Permit, Site Supervisor Permit or higher. Master of Arts Degree preferred.
    • Two years supervisory experience required.
    • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc) and other related computer software.
    • Possession of current pediatric (infant/toddler) CPR and first aid certificate.
    • Knowledge of program standards and guidelines of the California Department of Education, Funding Terms and Conditions (Title 5), Child Development Division, Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing (Title 22), ESSC and of Head Start and Early Head Start Performance Standards (Title 5,17 and 22).
    • Ability to communicate effectively, through oral and written skills, and work cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups. Must relate well to children and their families and maintain positive affect.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment, establish and meet timelines, plan, coordinate and implement school site programs.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to reach, bend, stoop squat. Also possess fine manual dexterity, can push, pull, talk/hear, with near and far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision.
    • Ability to pass post-offer medical examination and test for tuberculosis.
    • Ability to obtain fingerprint clearance per Easter Seals Southern California and/or program requirements.
    • Ability to travel locally, maintain driving record in compliance with Transportation Safety Standards, and have proper auto insurance and vehicle registration.
